Lila Jean (Sanders) Behan, 79, Overland Park, Kan., passed away peacefully Saturday, March 28, 2015, at her home, surrounded by family. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Cure of Ars Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood Kan., with Rosary taking place at 10 a.m. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at McGilley and Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Harvester's, Martin City Melodrama and Vaudeville Co., or the American Cancer Society. Lila will be remembered fondly as beloved mother, wife, friend, aunt, grandmother and confidante. She loved theater, travel, music and the arts, and was herself an accomplished ballroom dancer. Her ability to whip up delicious meals at a moment's notice has long been appreciated by her family. Her generosity, kindness, creativity, and class have touched many, and her dedication to family and determination to stand up for her beliefs have always inspired. She has been writer, seamstress, pet lover, motivator, chauffeur, and caregiver, and demonstrated her deep faith by long time devotion to her church. She has answered to many names - Lila, Mrs. Behan, Grammy, Aunt Lila - but is best known as our beautiful Mom. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous family members and dear friends. Lila, you are forever in our hearts. We trust you are now in heaven with Dad, dancing cheek to cheek. Online condolences may be left at www.mcgilleyhoge.com.
