Jack Tarlton Brookshire, 86, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2017 at Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park. Jack was born March 26, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to Oren "Red" and Naomi (Tarlton) Brookshire. He graduated from Central High School in 1949 and attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas until 1951 at which time he joined the United States Air Force. After receiving his commission, Jack flew various transport aircraft and at the end of his service career was in command of the KC-97 Aerial Refuel Tanker Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base. During one trip to Loring AFB in Limestone, Maine, Jack met the love of his life, Linda Ann Goodhue from Ft. Fairfield, Maine. Jack and "Lin" were married in March, 1955. Shortly after, Jack began what turned out to be a 34 year career as a decorated pilot and instructor for Trans World Airlines in Kansas City. Throughout his career he flew every aircraft that TWA operated from Lockheed Constellation through L-1011 and Boeing 747 and everything in between. He retired in September of 1990 as the number 7 in TWA seniority. During his career, he and Lin had three children, Jeff, Jennifer and Jim all of whom grew up in Overland Park and attended Shawnee Mission South High School. Jack especially enjoyed golf and was an accomplished player who belonged to Brookridge Country Club and Leawood South for many years. He and his family also spent many summers at their home at the Lake of the Ozarks, where they lived for a few years after he retired from TWA. Jack's zest for life and positive attitude always "lit up the room" and he will be missed by all of those who knew him.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Linda; son Jeff and his wife, Judy of Aledo, Texas; daughter Jennifer (Brookshire) Dunn and her husband, Steve of Rancho Santa Fe, California; and son Jim of Boston, Massachusetts. He was most proud of his 7 grandchildren, Zoe (Dunn) Hanson, Brynne (Dunn) Jones, Taylor Brookshire, Ashlee Brookshire, Kayla Brookshire, Jackson Brookshire and Calliste Brookshire.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Avenue in Leawood, Kansas, with a reception immediately following.
